6 Natural Cleaning Recipes to Fill Your Bottle With
🚿 Shower Cleaner
- 1 part white distilled vinegar (warmed)
- 1 part plant-based dish soap
- 10 drops tea tree essential oil per cup of liquid
Spray it on shower walls, doors, and fixtures and let it sit for 5–10 minutes before scrubbing and rinsing. The tea tree oil is a natural mold fighter which, especially in the shower, is a very good thing.
🪟 Glass Cleaner
- 4 parts water
- 1 part white distilled vinegar
- 1 part rubbing alcohol (70%)
- 5 drops lemon essential oil per cup of liquid (optional)
Spritz on mirrors, windows, and glass surfaces. Wipe down with a microfiber cloth in circular motions for a crystal-clear finish.

🧽 All-Purpose Cleaner
4 parts water
- 4 parts water
- 1 part white distilled vinegar
- 15 drops lavender essential oil + 15 drops tea tree essential oil per cup of liquid
Countertops, stovetops, sinks — this one handles it all. Spray, give it 30 seconds, wipe away. Shake before each use and you're good to go.
🌸 Air Freshener
Better than anything in an aerosol can.
- 3 parts distilled water
- 1 part witch hazel or vodka
- 20–30 drops essential oils per cup of liquid
The witch hazel (or vodka — no judgment) helps the scent stick around. As for the oils, here are a few combos worth trying:
- Citrus Burst: Orange + Grapefruit + Lemon
- Calm & Cozy: Lavender + Eucalyptus + Cedarwood
- Fresh & Clean: Peppermint + Tea Tree + Lime
Shake well and mist into any room, onto linens, or wherever you need a little refresh.

🌿 Surface Spray
- 4 parts water
- 1 part castile soap
- 10 drops eucalyptus essential oil + 10 drops peppermint essential oil per cup of liquid
This one's great for tables, cabinets, and bathroom surfaces you're wiping down on the regular. It smells incredible and won't strip delicate finishes.
🍋 Lemon Wood Polish
Your wood furniture has been waiting for this.
- 2 parts olive oil
- 1 part white distilled vinegar
- 20 drops lemon essential oil per cup of liquid
The oil and vinegar will separate, so just shake well before each use. Spray a little onto a soft cloth and buff into wood surfaces with the grain. It conditions, it shines, and it smells like a dream.

A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Start
- Use the labels. You think you'll remember which bottle is which. You won't. Label them.
- Distilled water is your friend. It extends the life of your blends and keeps mineral buildup out of the bottle.
- Don't mix vinegar and castile soap together. They cancel each other out — pick one per recipe.
- Go for 100% pure essential oils, not fragrance oils. The real stuff has antimicrobial benefits. The fragrance stuff just smells nice.
- Most blends stay fresh for about 4–6 weeks, so mix in small batches.
Cleaning your home does not have to mean a cabinet full of products with ingredient lists you need a chemistry degree to read. A few simple swaps, a good glass bottle, and you're already doing something better for your home, your family, and the planet.
